God Never Stopped Being True to Himself

If God is the Creator and Master of the universe, it confuses me exceedingly why He would care for me.

Why would He care for me? Me?

  • Sometimes vulgar,
  • Often mundane,
  • Boring compared to the universe (I mean, come on—the universe!),
  • Capable of evil,
  • Irritatingly stuck in the same patterns,
  • Prone to self-deception.
It doesn’t seem to make sense. But then, words like these remind me:

God never stopped being true to Himself.

God doesn’t behave the way I’d expect the Creator and Master of the universe to act—lording it over creation or being primarily concerned with His own entertainment or amusement.

Jesus made it crystal clear how He views leadership. His Lordship defies earthly assumptions of power: it’s not about being first or being served, but about being last and serving others.

God has always been true to Himself:

In Jesus’ example,
In His words,
In all He calls us to do.

Even if God has a hobby He truly enjoys, He has the power to stop time, multiply it, or devote Himself to it full-time—and still remain fully invested in every human and spiritual affair within His plans.

God can, and does, care.

Thank You, Lord Jesus.

No Need to Pretend to Like the Sky

I was probably trying to praise the sky. But God... You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. Psalms 139:1 He knows but loves me anyway.  ────⋆⋅☆⋅⋆──── I don't have to pretend to like the sky   You see through me, and it's okay. I don't have to pretend to be okay   You—You see through me, and it's gonna be okay. I don't have to pretend not to like something (or someone)   Of course You know, and it's okay. I don't have to act like I am in awe   You see what I lack, and it will be okay. You see through my thoughts, desires, dreams, irritation,   exhaustion, and laziness. You are my person—the place I don't have to pretend. You know all my flaws and my faults,   but I am assured You'll still love me anyway. No matter how much I earn, No matter how much I give, You are my safe place to confront me   when I don't like what I see. You embrace me anyway and say,   "I love you. I'll never abandon you." Then You teach...
